I am all about full transparency, so keep reading to learn all the pros and cons associated with this program, so you can make an informed decision.

What is the Wealthy Affiliate Program?

Wealthy Affiliate is an all-in-one program that actually serves two sets of people.

1. Those who want to create their own website and build their own brand.
2. Those who want to get into affiliate marketing.

I came to Wealthy Affiliate because I had little technical knowledge and was searching for an easy way to build my personal finance website, Five Bags of Gold.

Over time, it became clear that the visitors to my site were also really interested in learning how they could making money online to improve their personal finances.

That’s when I decided to also take advantage of Wealthy Affiliate’s second program (which is included at no extra cost) and become an affiliate.

So when you join this company, you have the option of simply creating and building up your own website, creating an affiliate marketing empire, or both.

Who Created Wealthy Affiliate?

Kyle Loudoun and Carson Lim are the founders of Wealthy Affiliate. They created the company back in 2005.

With Wealthy Affiliate, you learn how to:

4. Make Money by selling your own products or services, selling someone else’s products or service, setting up ads or taking part in paid promotions.

So, what makes Wealthy Affiliate stand out from all the other online business opportunities out there?

First, the company allows you to try their program for FREE! NO CREDIT CARDS required! This shows that Kyle and Carson truly believe in Wealthy Affiliate and all that it has to offer.

I had tried so many online companies to build my personal finance website, but they were all so confusing that I ended up canceling my subscription. I was so relieved that I could try WA for free without having to worry about canceling later if I didn’t like it.

But, guess what! I LOVED it. The platform was super simple to navigate and the trainings were step-by-step, so even if you knew nothing about building a website or a business, you could follow the videos without issue.

Second, everything you need to create, build, host, and market your website is included with your subscription. The only thing you’ll ever have to pay extra for is a domain, which you can get elsewhere if you wish.

I hate companies that have a ton of upsells once you join. Wealthy Affiliate doesn’t do that!

Third, the training is second-to-none. Not only will you get access to Wealthy Affiliate University training, but the company also adds trainings regularly each month that you can sign up for at no additional cost.

A Look at Wealthy Affiliate University

Once you sign up with Wealthy Affiliate, you’ll have access to all of the training videos. Under the “Training Tab,” you’ll find two sets of trainings. Let’s take a look at each below.

1. Online Entrepreneur Certification

This training includes 5 sections that together include 50 lessons. It’s designed for anyone interested in building a website. It covers everything from choosing a niche to finding the right keyword to designing the website to getting traffic.

All of the videos are step-by-step and over-the-shoulder, so know exactly what buttons to push and in what order. No prior website knowledge is required.

The five sections included in this training are:

2. Affiliate Bootcamp

How Do I Use Wealthy Affiliate?

In addition to following the trainings and building your business, you can use Wealthy Affiliate to continue to learn and grow. The company provides a whole host of tools at no extra costs. Let’s take a look at some of them below.

1. Classrooms

Under the training tab, you’ll also find a link to 13 different classrooms. In these classrooms, you can view additional trainings, join webinars, and ask questions.

The community at Wealthy Affiliate will chime in and answer those questions, so you can get a quick answer and continue on with building your business and reaching your goals.

Wealthy Affiliate provides access to Jaaxy for FREE! Jaaxy is a keyword research tool that makes it a breeze to uncover keywords in your niche that aren’t so competitive that you can’t rank for them.

If you’re never used a keyword research tool before, have no fear. Jaaxy is super simple to use and Wealthy Affiliate provides instruction on how to search and interpret the results, so you build your website content using keywords that will rank in Google and bring you traffic!

3. Access to Awesome WordPress Themes and Plug-ins

At no extra cost to you, Wealthy Affiliate provides access to a crazy amount of WordPress Themes (3,000+) and Plug-ins that you can use to customize your site and get it just the way you want it.

It’s also easy to try out the themes if you’ve narrowed down your choices, but can’t decide which one to go with.

Just a few clicks and your website is set-up and ready for content.

4. Site Comments

One of my favorite features in the Wealthy Affiliate platform is the Site Comments section. Here you can earn credits by checking out other member’s posts and leaving them a comment. You get 1 credit for each comment.

For every 2 credits, you can request a member take a look at your post and leave you a comment.

Search engines love seeing posts with comments, as it lets them know that readers are engaging with the site.

It’s fun to see what other members in the community are producing and I quite enjoy reviewing their articles and leaving comments. Just another way for members to support each other!

5. Site Feedback

Wealthy Affiliate provides the ability to have others review your website and give you feedback. This way, you can make improvements to your site to get better results.

You can submit your website at any time. Doing so in the early stages may give you some direction. Doing so later in game may give you ideas to make the site more user-friendly.

I’m a firm believer in expanding what works and finding new ideas to replace the things that aren’t working.

6. Site Support

Although the training videos take you step-by-step through the website set-up process, there may come a time when a technical issue arises.

Wealthy Affiliate doesn’t leave you to figure things out on your own. They offer technical support under the “Site Support” tab. It looks like this:

I have personally reached out to both technical support and the WA community for help several times and everyone was always quick to get back to me.

To me, the support itself is invaluable!

7. Affiliate Program List

Not sure what products to promote on your website? Wealthy Affiliate has a “Promote Tab” where you can search for affiliate programs in your niche. There are 600 million products available in every niche imaginable.

Simply type your niche into the search box and then choose the opportunities that work best for your audience. For example, if you had a website all about protein shakes, you’d type “Protein Shakes” in the search bar and hit enter.

The results show many different products you can promote as an affiliate, including plant-based shakes and shakes just for men.

What Is Affiliate Marketing and How Does It Work?

An affiliate is someone who promotes another person or company’s products or services in exchange for a commission when those products or services are ordered.

Let’s say you created a drop-proof case for an iPad and each one has a profit of $10. You reach 1,000 customers and profit $10,000.

Now, let’s say you decided to get help selling the iPad cases. You are willing to pay $2 per case to anyone who brings you a sale (those people are your affiliates). You still profit $8 a case, but you are able to reach 10,000 customers with the help of your affiliates. At a profit of $8 per case, you made a whopping $80,000.

You can see why companies offer affiliate programs. It’s profitable for both parties.

When you set up your website, there is no limit to how many affiliate offers you can promote. You can center your website around one big ticket item, or many smaller ticket items.

It’s important to note that you DO NOT have to promote Wealthy Affiliate. You can join WA, create a website and grow your own business based on a niche that you are passionate about.

If you have a website all about caring for German Shepherds, you wouldn’t be promoting Wealthy Affiliate, but you would be partnering with pet care products and services.

For example, you may join a pet insurance affiliate program and promote that to the dog owners that visit your site. You’ll be informing them about a service that could save them big on vet bills and earning a commission on every sale.

There are plenty of other affiliate opportunities in this niche as well, such as promoting toys for puppies, customized mugs with a picture of the person’s dog on the front, and even doggie sweaters for winter walks. You get the idea!

Can Affiliate Marketing Get You Rich?

I’ve never liked this question because the amount of money one person considers “rich” is different from another.

What I can say is that with affiliate marketing, your earnings are not limited. Just like any other business, an affiliate marketing business requires hard work, time, and dedication.

Wealthy Affiliate never ever pretends to be a “get rich quick scheme.” Instead it teaches its members how to build their business from the ground up and then scale it to create a larger income.

What I do love about affiliate marketing is that it creates passive income, meaning you can earn in your sleep.

If I work for an employer, I’m stuck only being able to earn the amount of hours I am awake, but promoting products and services on your own website lets you earn day and night.

A Quick Note About Wealthy Affiliate Domains

As mentioned above, the only other expense outside of your WA subscription fee is the cost to purchase a domain for your website.

I had originally purchased the domain for my personal finance site from GoDaddy. They often offer domains around $9.99, but there is a catch. The next year, GoDaddy renewed my domain at double the price – they charged me $18.99!

Wealthy Affiliate hates this kind of deceptive practice, so they charge a fixed $14.99 per year for all domains purchased on their platform. You can even transfer a domain purchased outside of WA. I did exactly that!

Having a fixed cost for a domain also makes it easier to create your business budget. No surprises next year!

How Much Does Wealthy Affiliate Cost?

Wealthy Affiliate offers three different subscription packages:

1. Starter: $0 per month
2. Premium: $49 per month
3. Premium Plus: $99 per month

Do You Need Premium Plus?

In my opinion, most entrepreneurs won’t need premium plus until much much further down the road, if ever.

I suggest giving the free subscription a try to make sure the platform suits you.

Then, sign up for the Premium Membership and build your business.

You really only need the Premium Plus Membership after you’ve successfully built 10 websites, as that is the limit for the Premium Membership. With Premium Plus, you can build up to 50 websites.

Does Wealthy Affiliate Really Work?

Yes, 100% Wealthy Affiliate is a legitimate company that truly cares about its subscribers and community.

If you are willing to work hard and follow the trainings, then you have what it takes to succeed with Wealthy Affiliate!

Is Wealthy Affiliate a Pyramid Scheme?

Please, please avoid pyramid schemes and MLM companies at all costs! Thankfully, Wealthy Affiliate is NOT a pyramid scheme.

The way pyramid schemes work is that you make money only when you have a team of members below you. So you recruit Joe and then he recruits Sarah and then Sarah recruits Mike. The focus is always on building a team and the people on the bottom never win.

If you sign up for Wealthy Affiliate will I get a commission? Yes, I will! BUT I am getting paid for promoting a service (that I use myself and wholeheartedly believe it).

I will not make money on anyone you refer to Wealthy Affiliate or anyone your referrals bring to the platform. This keeps the focus on the service itself and ensures that everyone can make money equally.

Who Is Wealthy Affiliate For?

I hope I’ve been able to show through the above Wealthy Affiliate reviews and my own testimony that Wealthy Affiliate isn’t a scam. It’s a legitimate business opportunity for anyone who wants to work from home in a niche they are passionate about.

You will get:

1. Helping picking the right niche for your website.
2. Help building the website, whether that’s an e-commerce store, educational site, or affiliate site.
